Doomsday Clock: 2 1/2 Minutes to Midnight!

We as the human race have never ventured this close to the edge of the Abyss. The Doomsday Clock, a symbol that represents the likelihood of total global thermonuclear war since 1947. In 2015, the minute hand of the Doomsday Clock moved from 5 minutes to 3 minutes to midnight. Marking the most important and dangerous trend in 2017.

The last time it was 3 minutes to midnight was back in 1984, due to further escalations of tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Today: 2 and a half minutes to midnight!

The Science and Security Board warned: the probability of global catastrophe is very high; actions needed to reduce the risks of disaster must be taken very soon.” In 2017, we find the danger to be even greater, the need for action more urgent. It is two and a half minutes to midnight, the Clock is ticking, global danger looms. Wise public officials should act immediately, guiding humanity away from the brink. Myth: The United States of America is the global hegemon.

Hegemonic Stability Theory (HST) is a theory of international governance which indicates that the international (global) system is more likely to remain stable when a single dominant state can articulate and enforce the rules of interaction among the most important members of the system.

The attributes used to judge whether a state is considered a Hegemon vary. For our purpose’s we will look at three.

1.         The capability to enforce the system rules;

2.         Possess the Will to do so;

3.         An unshaken commitment to the system which is mutually beneficial to the major players, or is at least perceived that way.

In the past it was once believed that a state is “capable” of becoming a hegemon, required

1.         A large and or growing economy. (Influence over trade and monetary policy abroad)

2.         Proven dominance in technological or economic sectors.

3.         Political will power back up by real military superiority.

Now that we have a basic idea of what a Hegemon is, we need to grasp the implications of what would happen if one hegemonic power overtakes and replaces another. (Generally very bad for the losing side)

Myth: The United States of America is the global hegemon.

As someone who lives within the continental United States, I can confirm this myth is wildly accepted as fact. Not just by the far right “nationalists” but by the majority of everyday people. The question of IF the United States WAS once a hegemon is beyond debate. What’s interesting about the majority is kind of paradoxical. 

They don’t actually still believe America is superior nor was it ever great and in most cases use this chance to lay blame and say “America leads the free world, so it should blah blah...” 

Well, what if American only believes it’s leading the free world, but in reality has been pushed aside? What symptoms should appear?

Now, I’m not trying to say that the United States IS or ISNT the global Hegemon anymore. What I’m trying to bring the attention of everyone reading this, is that it is the Perceived notion that the USA is the dominant influence; causing so much chaos. I personally believe it is this false “unspoken” belief that America is leading the free world. That caused so many people to feel that America is declining.

If only the drug companies could cook up a "motivation reup inhibitor" that would be cool. However, most people find that motivation is a fleeting endevor, quick to fire us up and just as quickly to abandon us at first sight of obstacles. 

I took a screenshot of a user's comment on Reddit, u/whatamidoing11 that really stuck with me. This individual shifted their paradigm with this simple idea. Instead of generating feelings of "pride" from consuming. We should instead create.  "Oh that's so simple, it's actually dumb" some of you might say.

As someone who's seen firsthand the emergence of individuals such as Milo Yiannopoulos, Ben Shapiro, Nigel Farage and many others from almost no fame to huge followings(Proof) all in just a short 2016 year¹ .  I at first did not understand the sheer implications of what I was seeing, just a few YouTube videos right? I say a few because that's where a lot of people first connected with the ideas of the aforementioned thinkers. Today there are thousands of videos with millions of views.

Looking at Google Trends we see overwhelming evidence that indeed "Something" has started. For example looking at Nigel Farage, a member of the European Parliament a man many are saying is personally responsible for Brexit. Recently came to the spot light in the United States. We compared the search results within the US vs World Wide and found a shocking revelation. Outside of his native United Kingdom The place that has the most search queries for Mr Farage was Washington D.C.² ! How interesting... 

Some in the mainstream media are calling this band wagon of a movement the " Alt-Right". 

You will notice that our media personalities are quick to slap labels on people or topics they don't understand or worse are simply different from their own, and so must be censored.

Why does this matter?

Well unless you all have been living under a rock, people started talking a lot in 2016.The following words were only whispers not a year ago. SJW(Social Justice Warriors), Trigger Warnings, Safe spaces, Micro Aggressions. And a Trump presidency was still merely a SNL joke. Everyone was holding their breath.

  The fact that people are starting to talk about real issues is a welcomed change. Don't forget the power of human discourse has not seen a more prestigious platform then the one currently available on Reddit.  


So who will there be a crowned king or queen of the (Alt-Left) mainstream media ? I can think of a few possibilities. Who in the media today in you're opinion stands for the leftist movement ?

If you think you've seen something in this election. Just wait until 2020. I can say that if by the end of March 2017, article 50 isn't triggered. Brexit doesn't really mean Brexit!  The Will of the people will not be disregarded in such a dismissive deplorable manner.

There's a major movement to stop or delay/overturn the Brexit referendum. Could the same ideology be behind the Jill Stein efforts to recount the votes in what appears to be efforts to overturn Trumps electoral win?

While working at a computer station, students/employees have to write things down. Not just once but constantly. I'v found that its quite a drag to have to drop my pen, type and pick it back up when i'm grading work for my networking class I assist at Sacramento City College. So instead i'v had this great idea to invent this tool that could clip on any pen/pencil that would allow you to go from writing to typing and back without dropping you pen. Potentially savings millions of dollars!
